well its actually quite simple. i was wondering why there was no mining skill? i mean it would be nice... then you could diskutate if it is usefull but if you made it to only be possible to get iron in a higher level else there is no reason of making tools of copper when you at the same time can maki a better one of iron if you know what i mean. :D maybe the highest mining skill make you able to make a building "mining site" where you could mine and get from iron to anything else...

The copper tools are mainly made for mappers I think.

You could just place copper stones on your island and give the player the iron a different way (trade)

With Skills enabled, you can make copper tools much earlier than iron tools. Besides, on random maps shouldn't be any iron stones, just some with iron ore. It takes quite a while to get iron tools there ;)

Therefore I created an ironore-rock besides the copper-rock as well... So just put ironore-rocks instead of iron-rocks on an island (then you'll need a kiln to make iron, and for the kiln you'll need loam, and to get loam again, you'll need a shovel - made of copper)
